The Harlem Book Fair 2009, was recently held in Harlem, New York with attendees coming from around the world. Among the focus this year were a number books by a diverse list of authors mostly African and African American authors some of which earned roundtable discussions such as "What future for African Union - faced with a hedonistic elite?" Insights from P.Chudi Uwazurike's “Instrumental Pan-Africanism,” (politics) “The Flycatcher’s Identity” (play) & "Nwuzor Nwanna and the Song of a Thousand Tunes" (novel).

Chicago will be celebrating Nigerian Independence Day on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 Northbound on Sunnyside/Sheridan to Foster park. Immediately following the parade will be live entertainment, games, cultural shows, food, childre's activites, raffle prizes and more! Featured artists include Jazz, Nache and Kazeem

Lagos, Nigeria West Africa: Seun Anikulapo-Kuti recently had a debut in Victoria Island Lagos and gave an outstanding and near-perfect performance during the show that drew the likes of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka and renowned photographer Don Barber to Victoria Island’s Terra Kulture. Inheriting his father’s looks and band Egypt 80, Seun gave the very diverse audience an opening treat by performing some of Fela’s classics as well as tracks from his Many Things album.
